The committee considered a motion from Mr. Savard-Tremblay regarding the government’s unfulfilled commitment to introduce legislation to eliminate forced labour from Canadian supply chains. The motion noted that the commitment, first announced in the March 2023 budget and reiterated in the 2024 budget, was not renewed in the 2025 budget, and that no government bill had been introduced.

Mr. Naqvi proposed an amendment to the motion, which Mr. Savard-Tremblay accepted. The amendment replaced the final two paragraphs of the original motion with a call for the committee to report to the House urging the government to renew its commitment and table legislation, and to request a comprehensive government response under Standing Order 109.

The committee adopted the motion as amended. No further decisions or unresolved matters were recorded.
