Foreign Affairs and International Development

The committee met for its first organizational meeting of the 45th Parliament, 1st Session. The clerk presided over the election of the chair and vice-chairs. Ahmed Hussen was elected chair, Michael Chong was elected first vice-chair, and Alexis Brunelle-Duceppe was elected second vice-chair.

Following the elections, Robert Oliphant moved that the committee adopt the routine motions as contained in a document titled “Routine Motions, 45th Parliament, 1st Session,” which had been circulated by email on June 13. Michael Chong supported the motion, and Alexis Brunelle-Duceppe confirmed the motions were those agreed to by all parties in the Procedure and House Affairs committee. The motion was adopted.

The committee then agreed to invite the analysts to sit at the table. Michael Chong suggested that planning for fall sittings should be deferred until the first meeting after the summer recess, and the committee adjourned.
