The committee met to plan its work for the coming months, with members proposing studies based on recent Auditor General reports and other topics. No minister or departmental officials appeared; the meeting was entirely devoted to committee business.

Conservative members proposed studying Report 3 on federal office space, Report 5 on professional services contracts (including McKinsey), and Report 4 on GC Strategies, citing concerns about cost savings, procurement oversight, and security clearances. Liberal members suggested environmental reports, particularly the Commissioner’s report on lessons learned from sustainable development, and supported the idea of each party selecting one report to study. The Bloc Québécois moved two motions: a study of federal financial commitments for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and a request for the Auditor General to audit the federal Additions to Reserve process. The chair noted that the latter motion might need rewording to align with committee practice, and the Bloc member agreed to revise it.

The committee did not make any final decisions on which studies to undertake. Members agreed to continue discussions, with the chair proposing to revisit the agenda after the Auditor General tables her autumn reports, expected in October.
